THE DOCTORS
H.F. Meyers, MD | General and Laparoscopic Surgery
Dr. Meyers is a retired Navy Surgeon who graduated from the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis,
Maryland and proceeded to Ohio State University Medical School. He was a surgeon in the Navy
for 24 years and retired as the Chief of Surgery at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Washington,
D.C., where he taught and performed advanced laparoscopic surgery. He started private practice
in Dallas, Texas in 1998 and performed his first Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass in March of 2002.
To date he has performed more than 380 surgeries with minimal complications and no patient
deaths. His patients enjoy stunning success rates, losing an average of __% of excess body
weight after 2 years.
Peter J. Wiltse, DO | General and Laparoscopic Surgery
Dr. Wiltse attended the University of Michigan and recieved his Doctorate of Osteopathy
from the University of North Texas Health Sciences Center College of Osteopathic Medicine.
After practicing general surgery in Northeast Texas, he began performing Open Roux-en-Y
Gastric Bypass in 2002 in Wylie, Texas. Dr. Wiltse joined the Center for Bariatric Surgery in
December of 2004. He has a strong belief in the benefits of the Center's philosophy of
performing bariatric surgery laparoscopically. Dr. Wiltse works as an assistant surgeon to Dr. Meyers
for the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypasses performed at the Center for Bariatric Surgery.
THE SUPPORT STAFF
Our wonderful, caring group includes Tammy Beaumont RN, Debra Bovaird, Connie Cox RD, Mark Gonzalez, Sharon Hillgartner RNC, A. Giovanni Lara, Ruth Meyers RN, Lynn Newberry, and Pat Sage. Connie, Sharon, Tammy, and Debra
are all gastric bypass veterans.
You also may work with Cardiodiagnostics, the group that performs our stress-tests, and Dr. Charles Kluge, our psychologist. In addition, we coordinate with several
plastic surgeons to offer you many options for possible post-weight-loss care.
A Caring, Patient-Oriented Team
Our staff's primary focus is the well-being of the patient. We are pleased to have you as our patient,
and will make every effort to ensure that your visit is as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
Our goal is to treat our patients the way we would like to be treated ourselves. We offer brief waiting
periods, prompt return of your phone calls, strict confidentiality and honest answers to your questions.
Above all, there is an atmosphere of warmth and caring throughout our office. Personal attention, availability
and quality care with state of the art services are our utmost priorities. To continue your medical needs,
our office has a Nurse Practitioner and two Registered Nurses to assist you in any medical needs during our
normal working hours.
Sharon K. Hillgartner, RNC | Nurse Practitioner
Sharon graduated from nursing school in 1979 and has worked as an RN in Maternal Child Health, Renal,
Cardiology, G.I., and Rheumatology. She obtained certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse in May 2005 from UT
Southwestern Medical. Sharon joined the Center for Bariatric Surgery in June 2005 and currently works to assist the
Doctors in hospital rounds, clinic visits, and fielding medical questions from patients. She herself is a bariatric
surgery veteran, having undergone Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass in December of 2004.
Ruth N. Meyers, RN | Practice Manager
Ruth attended Ohio State University and began her nursing career in 1980. She worked as a nurse in the Intensive
Care Unit for 20 years before joining the Center for Bariatric Surgery as the Practice Manager. She runs the
business aspect of the Center, plays a crucial role in obtaining insurance preauthorization for each of our patients
before surgery, and assists the doctors during clinic and addresses medical concerns from patients.
Tammy Beaumont, RN | Registered Nurse

Connie Cox, MS, RD, LD | Dietician
Connie joined us in the spring of 2006. She has a Bachelor's degree in Foods and
Nutrition from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science
from Stephen F. Austin State University. Most of her professional
experience has been in long-term care. On September 17,2003, she underwent Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and lost
147 pounds within the first year or so. Her diabetes and high blood pressure are
gone, and her quality of life has increased by leaps and bounds.
She is so enthusiastic about the process that she decided a few
years ago to focus her dietetics practice on bariatric surgery
patients. She is very excited to be the newest member CBS family and is
looking forward to working with all of you.
